Wake up and Weep
Joel 1:5
“Awake, you drunkards, and weep, and wail, all you drinkers of wine, because of the sweet wine, for it is cut off from your mouth.”
"Awake, you drunkards, and weep."
Oh how much do we get "comfortable" in our sin and make it our lifestyle.
I just finished reading Hosea and it was such another wake-up call of conviction. Every single day I never cease to be a whore to this world.
Hosea 1:2
“When the Lord first spoke through Hosea, the Lord said to Hosea, “Go, take to yourself a wife of whoredom and have children of whoredom, for the land commits great whoredom by forsaking the Lord.”
Whenever we sin, we are whoring to this world. Friends, let this be a weighty statement. We choose this world over our LORD. This is no light thing. We take the LORD way to casually.
Hosea 5:7
“They have dealt faithlessly with the Lord; for they have borne alien children. Now the new moon shall devour them with their fields.”
This world will slowly grab us more and more and lure us in. Friends, let us wake up to this! We cannot just keep getting comfortable in our whoredom to this world.
Hosea 11:2
“The more they were called, the more they went away; they kept sacrificing to the Baals and burning offerings to idols.”
Friends, this now brings me back to Joel and us waking up! Let us feel the weight and mourn how much our sin grieves GOD. We often make our sin so small. But, whoredom is not a small thing. Friends, I am a whore to this world, You are a whore to this world. Let that weight sink in. Weep over it and how that seperates us from GOD.
Joel 1:13-14
“Put on sackcloth and lament, O priests; wail, O ministers of the altar. Go in, pass the night in sackcloth, O ministers of my God! Because grain offering and drink offering are withheld from the house of your God. Consecrate a fast; call a solemn assembly. Gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land to the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord.”
We hear the warnings from the LORD, we have wept and felt the weight of our sin, now let us take action; let us repent. Repentance is a lifestyle, we must do so everyday. We confess our sins to the LORD and repent of them, change our ways.
However, friends, remember that our relationship with the LORD is a gift and it is not by works; for as we can see, you cannot earn anything since we are so filthy without CHRIST. Through JESUS' blood we are redeemed and HIS blood alone! We must live a lifestyle that reflects HIS righteousness through us. Our LORD died so we could be in a relationship with HIM.
Hosea 6:2
“After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will raise us up, that we may live before him.”
Friends, let us wake up, weep, and repent. Living in the light of HIS sacrifice!
Let us live for the LORD, together!
For HIM,
Sabina
