Be Nourished

Hello friends! Today I am going to be talking about being nourished. No, not the kind your mom always told you about eating your vegetables, but a different kind. This kind of nourishment gives you life.

Every Wednesday my Dad and I wake up before work and school so that we can spend some alone time together and talk about our LORD!

During our time, I shared this verse:

They are to eat the meat that night; they should eat it, roasted over the fire along with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. Exodus 12:8 CSB

Charles Spurgeon talks about this verse in a beautiful way. Talking about how CHRIST was roasted over the fire like the lamb and is food for our souls. Here is a part of what he said on the verse.

"CHRIST on the cross is to be the one object of our faith; we must look to HIM there even as the Israelite was to look on and feed on the lamb roasted over the fire. Think what CHRIST has endured for us. Oh what fire our LORD JESUS CHRIST passed through that HE might become food for our souls."
 ~ Charles Spurgeon

Now, the question is, how is CHRIST food for our souls?

Think of the normal food life you live. You most likely have at least one meal you sit down at the dinner table and just eat and talk with your family. That is your core nourished meal of the day. While you are eating at the table with your family you probably are not doing school at the same. Or typing up a job application. Most likely, at least once a day, you sit down and just eat a meal talking with your family.

That is the same for our spiritual food! At least once a day, you must sit alone with GOD and HIS word with undivided attention to HIM.
Read HIS word, study HIS word, and just sit alone with our LORD.

Something that is important too, is sustaining stacks. After dance class I am tired and need a bit of fuel before a meal, so I eat a Cliff Bar. Maybe you like snacking on fruit, veggies, chips, or gold fish throughout the day.

With a snack however, you might be multitasking. Maybe you are in the car, watching a show, at work or school eating something small.

This is also the same for spiritual food. You also need some sustaining snacks! Whenever you have a moment, read a verse and meditate on it, work on memorization, and just read a bit of Scripture. Use your cracks in the day well!

But, something to beware of is you cannot live on snacks. If you ate only gold fish everyday you would not get enough nourishment. If you just read a couple verses quickly in the car everyday you will not get enough nourishment.

I know it may be difficult to crave those healthy, nourishing, spiritual meals, that is why tomorrow I wanted to talk about cravings.

Friends, I hope this encouraged you and you will begin to dive into those meals and become stronger!

Have a lovely day or night wherever you are!

For HIM
~ Sabina
